Is Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 10 Suite a good editing software?

If you have not tried Suite 10, but have tried another Sony Vegas editing program please tell me about it.

If you have not tried any Sony Vegas products, please recommend a good video editing software that I can purchase.

First, let me assure you that I am not connected with Sony in any way. I use Sony Vegas Movie Studio regularly and train others in its use. With that in mind, here is my answer:

Yes Sony Vegas Movie Studio 10 is an excellent video editing software package. It is rich with many features and works exactly like the professional Sony Vegas Pro used by broadcasters and movie producers. The Pro version adds in some high-end features that most users will never need. I recommend you get the Platinum Production Suite. For $30 more you get the Sound Forge Studio Audio Editor, 1001 sound effects, a DVD training video, extra audio and video effects and more soundtracks.

Over the years Sony Vegas has been known as the most stable video editor. I have worked with for years and have never had the program crash except when trying to use a third party plug-in that wasn't properly written. I can't blame Vegas for that.

Check out trakAxPC Pro. It's a new editing suite that allows you to edit and mix any combination of audio, video and photos. You can do effects, text, split screen, reverse, slow-motion etc, plus upload your video directly to YouTube through the application. There's a free and paid version available.
